Russell Cave National Monument

On our way to Red Bay, Alabama for work on the motorhome we saw a sign west of Chattanooga for Russell Cave National Monument in Bridgeport, Alabama. A five mile jaunt up a country road and we were there. Evin and I met some really nice people working at the park.

Being springtime, I was hoping that there might be some wildflowers in bloom. I was not disappointed...

A Mayapple in bloom in April.

Couldn't decide which one I liked the best.

The Mayapple bloom is easy to miss if you are just walking along. The leaves above the bloom shade and conceal.

Much larger than actual size.

On to the cave...

Magical. Spiritual. A special place.
Early man's shelter from the elements.

  1. #14 is spectacular because of the explosive center composition and cool filter you added.
All the shots are wonderful. Your flower shots are out of this world, Steve!
