Indian Bayou, Heathman Plantation & Wister Gardens

An overcast and rainy afternoon did not deter Evin, the PUPS and me from making a road trip south. Several people I met taking flower photos in Cleveland suggested that I go to Wister Gardens in Belzoni, Mississippi.

On the way there we were going down the highway and to my left I saw a bayou. I drove almost a mile and decided that I should turn around...

I went back, got out of the car, and saw the above view.

Above is the view across the highway to my left.

As I was turning around I saw an interesting build on the side road.

Across the street was Indian Bayou that I had seen from the four lane highway.

Farmers were still hard at work. We met James who manages the plantation. He was very nice and informative.

This afternoon is flying by so we head on to Wister Gardens.

The view as you enter Wister Gardens is quite impressive.

I got out of the car and took photos looking both ways, above is toward the house and below is back toward the highway.

Above is the view we had as we were leaving Wister Gardens near dark. It was after sunset.

We really enjoyed our brief visit to Wister Gardens and plan to return the next time we are in the area. We met Lynn who manages the Gardens. She was very nice and encouraged us to come back and to also visit Sky Lake which is nearby.
