New Mexico photos of Georgia O'Keeffe country.

Evin drug me to the laundry mat in Espanola so I now have WIFI. So I thought I would share some recent photos. We are staying at Riana Campground near Abiquiu, New Mexico until the 5th of July and then on to Utah. It is the area where Goergia O'Keeffe lived the last twenty or so years of her life. I believe you will see why she loved to paint landscapes in this area. An afternoon drive down Hwy. 84 is a true treat in itself.

Scene Evin took in Chama, New Mexico.

Hwy. 84 near Ghost Ranch.

I like road signs. Echo amphitheater rest stop on Hwy. 84.

Kind of looks like a tug boat.

Mother Nature is an artist.
Cliffs look like an ice cream treat!

What a rest stop!!

A mile or so down the highway. Ghost Ranch.

What a scene was before me!! O'Keeffe stayed her until she bought a home in Abiquiu.

Found another flower for Bill N.!!

Beautiful, BUT thorny!!

Just one more of Ghost Ranch. This time without the fense.

Just a little further down the road. Yes, I also like highway scenes.

Same scene, that's Linda walking to take a canyon/creek photo.

The mountain that Georgia O'Keeffe painted often. What an enchanting landscape!!

LUNCH, KAYAKING & DINNER!!!!

As promised, I am showing the rest of our day, a spaghetti dinner, but just a little later in this post. First, the next day, lunch and kayaking. At the spaghetti dinner, Linda, Evin and I talked Doodlebug and our new friend, Dick, to go with us to Eagle Nest Lake for a picnic and a little kayaking. Had issues with the wind.

Looks calm in this photo I painted.

Bill, there are flowers in the weeds. You just have to look.

Dick fighting the wind!!

Doodlebug spies the white caps!!

I am glad the state warned us.

The wind drives us back to Sierra Valley and dinner. First, the night before...

Those partaking, on the left, Joyce, Dick, Don, Paul and Alice. On the right, Frank, Linda, Janet and Evin. I was cooking and taking photos. Evin took Ken a plate to his office.

Spaghetti, three meat sauce, spinach with pine nuts & fresh garlic & sun dried tomatoes, salad and garlic bread. Everyone pitched in.

Alice made a great carrot cake!!!!

They talked me into fixing my favorite, "deviled hamburgers" the next night. Everyone pitched in again since we had a windy and exhausting day on the lake...

Bon appetit!!

In & Around Taos, New Mexico

"Girlfriend/Cousin" Phyllis, a tour guide extraordinary, suggested that the PUPS, Evin and I spend at least a few days in Taos, New Mexico. We, along with Linda and her pups, have now been near Taos almost two weeks. We have made many new friends and seen some beautiful sites. I just finished this post and some how, I lost it. So here I go again.

Here is where we a currently parked. Sierra Valley Campground. Linda is to the far left and we are next to her where you see the red and orange kayaks. Although the photo has my watermark, it was taken by our new friend, Paul. I just did some editing.

Ken, the owner of Sierra Valley Campground.

Ken suggested that we take the Enchanted Circle drive. So we did. There was a lot of natural beauty as well as the First National Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Evin and Linda also suggested that I do a spaghetti dinner for our new friends after our day trip. The photos will tell the tale.

There were some beautiful flowers on the grounds.

Below the memorial was a large valley. Two towns, Angel Fire and Eagle Nest were in the valley.

Eagle Nest Lake.

We saw cows and...

... a cowboy!!!!

We would come back to Eagle Nest Lake the next day for a picnic and kayaking.

And, yes, Bill, I stopped and looked down and saw some...

We took ranch road off the highway and ...

What a trip, and now I have to cook dinner for 12. Later...
