On A Different PATH and A Brand New Bag...

On January 3, Doodlebug, Eddie and I awoke to circumstances that were strange and new. PUPPY PATHS had lost one of the PUPS, sweet Bumble, and our co-pilot and their "mother", Evin. Yesterday, Evin and Bumble started on their journey back to North Carolina so Evin could continue to work on her improving relationship with her son. The remaining PUPPY PATHS crew, Doodle, Eddie and I wish them well.

After much thought, I have decided to continue PUPPY PATHS. If my health will allow it, I will continue the dream that Evin and I once shared, now alone. Recording the events of our first day as three was very important to me. My son had asked us to stay close to him and his family. I appreciate Trent and Amber's love and support but I feel it is important for Eddie, Doodle and me to move forward on our adventure.

I had reservations at Houston West RV Park and after dropping Evin and Bumble off at Evin's new car the remaining members of PUPPY PATHS returned to Brookshire, a place that had been our home several times over the past few months. My new friends Robin and Wesley were still there.

We got there,  I registered and paid. Robin walked by and welcomed me back. I started unhooking the Escape for the first time, heretofore Evin's job, and the lady from the office called out and asked me to come back into the office. Someone had made a mistake and had rented our reserved spot to someone else. They were full, "no room in the inn!!"

Evin and I had planned to head West to Quartzsite after Galveston and meet our RV-Dreams friends, Carol Ann and Steve Dwyer, for two weeks in the desert with some of their Escapees friends. Carol Ann is the master photographer that has served as my mentor. I called and told Carol Ann and Steve of the change of circumstances and they encouraged "the new PUPPY PATHS crew" to come on to Quartzite.

I decided to start the first day of our new life looking forward, not looking back, and thus I headed to San Antonio as originally planned. I call Trent and he is very supportive. He sends me a text with directions to their favorite Mexican restaurant, Mi Tierra CafĂ© Y Panaderai located in historic Market Square in downtown San Antonio. The remaining PUPS and I headed to Sealy, Texas, for the closest Walmart to settled in for the night.

We awoke to a bright morning. The temperature got down into the 20's last night so Doodle wanted her coat...

Despite our new set of circumstances, I knew the remaining PUPS of PUPPY PATHS would like to start their day off with full stomachs. So I fixed their favorite breakfast, scrambled eggs and cheese...

...and my favorite...

On Wednesday, while in Galveston, I met a couple, Jimmy and Sue Damon, from Luling, Texas. They were eating breakfast in the Jamaica Beach RV Park's restaurant. I learned from them that Luling was just off Interstate 10 on my way to San Antonio and was famous for two things, watermelons and barbeque. So, with our stomachs full we filled up the "Bus"with diesel, gasoline for the Escape and a fresh tank full of water, absent Evin spotting me in the process as was out routine. We then set out with Luling and barbeque on our agenda...

Jimmy and Sue told me there were two great "Bar-B-Que" joints right in the center of town, City Market and Luling Bar B Q...

I drove by the restaurants, City Market on my left and Luling Bar B Q on my right. I went around the block and found a great place to park...

...finding a space to park a 40 foot motor home with a towed vehicle in a strange town is often not an easy task.

I turn the corner and head up the street ready to check out each restaurant and I see...

...the "Stanley"!!

My already late lunch will have wait. Check out the next post to see what happens...

    1. All the problems with all three RVs has been just too much for Evin. I hope she finds the relationship with her son that she has always wanted. Thank you for your concern and kind comments. I have a great relationship with Trent and Amber and I know how much that means to me.
