The PUPS of PUPPY PATHS

Ever now and then Doodlebug, Bumble and Eddie let me know that I have not featured them on a blog post as often as they think I should. Today, Evin and I took the PUPS with us as we drove through Zion National Park. They enjoyed their adventure which I will share a little later. But, I did happen to catch their happiness with my Nikon...

The PUPS are the "real stars"of our show!! They're the reason that Evin and I are on this PATH!!

Whiptail Grill

Today, Evin and I enjoyed a special treat. We arrived at Zion Canyon RV Resort in Springdale, Utah, in the early morning because we had to sleep outside the national park on the side of the road because our RV was too big to go through the second tunnel on Highway 9 unless the oncoming traffic was stopped so that I could drive down the middle of the road so I would not hit the roof of the RV. That is only done during this time of the year between 8 AM and 7 PM. We didn't know that and got to the entrance around 9 PM.

By the time we got set up we were hungry so we walked to restaurant near us that was rated 4+ Stars...

A real whiptail lizard was at our campsite!!

Whiptail Lizard

According to Wikipedia, certain species of whiptail lizards have all-female or nearly all-female populations. These lizards reproduce by parthenogenesis. They are all terrestrial and diurnal (active during the day), and are primarily carnivorous or insectivorous (eat insects), although some will include a small amount of plant matter in their diet. They all lay eggs, with some species laying large clutches.

If you look to the left of Evin this is what you would see...

Evin really enjoyed her bacon bleu burger!!

The Whiptail Grill's chili relleno with beef tenderloin was the best I have ever eaten!! The panko batter really made it an experience.

Want to go back just thinking of it as I write this post comment.

Back to the real whiptail lizard...

  When this whiptail got tired of the photo shoot it dug a hole in the gravel...

...and was gone!!

Above is what happened to my chili relleno!! It was all gone except for the Anaheim chili pepper stem!!

In fact, we both enjoyed our meals at the Whiptail Grill that we went back a day or two later and tried two more items on their menu...

POSTSCRIPT:

Evin and I just had to go back to the Whiptail Grill one more time before we leave for Bryce Canyon National Park. 

I had literally been dreaming about the goat cheese chili relleno. Evin wanted more than a bite so we ordered a double chili relleno and she had to have one more bacon bleu cheese burger. 

We were not disappointed!!

We started with salsa, guacamole and chips...

...followed by a double chili relleno and a bacon bleu cheese burger to split!!

We can hardly wait to come back for more of your hospitality and great cuisine!!

Around the campground on Easter...

Eddie and Doodle let me know that they wanted to go for a ride. I decided to grab my Nikon and shoot more irises and hedgehogs near the entrance of Payson Campground and RV Resort...

I looked across the entrance road to the campground and saw more color... more hedgehogs!!

 ICHTHUS

"Ichthus" or "ichthys", from the Greek word ikhthys ("fish"), is a symbol consisting of two intersecting arcs, the ends of the right side extending beyond the meeting point so as to resemble the profile of a fish. It was used by early Christians as a secret Christian symbol and know colloquially as the "sign of the fish" or the "Jesus fish".

According to the website "signofthefish.net", "Greeks, Romans, and many other pagans used the fish symbol before Christians. Hence the fish, unlike, say the cross, attracted little suspicion, making it a perfect secret symbol for persecuted believers. Christianity had been declared illegal and public gatherings of Christians were not allowed. When threatened and persecuted by Romans in the first centuries after Christ, Christians used the fish symbol to mark meeting places and tombs, or to distinguish friends from foes.

According to one ancient story, when a Christian met a stranger in the road, the Christian sometimes drew one arc of the simple fish outline in the dirt. If the stranger drew the other arc, both believers knew they were in good company. Current bumper-sticker and business-card uses of the fish hearken back to this practice."

Hedgehog or Claret Cup Cactus

Evin and I have been under the weather the past week or so. Therefore, there have been no PUPPY PATHS' posts for quite a while. Several people pointed that out to me. So, today, after church and lunch with Gerry and Chuck, I just had to stop when I saw the hedgehop cactus and take a shot or two with my camera phone...
