Catching Up!! + Beulah Lake, Aunt Alberta and Mont Helena, Mississippi

Evin, the PUPS and I have been doing a lot of traveling. We have gone from New Hampshire back to North Carolina. My father passed away earlier this month. We have spent time in Red Bay, Alabama having work done on the motor home. We stopped and spent time with our friends Russell and Michelle on Beulah Lake, Mississippi.

Guess where we are today????

Back in Texas!!
Land of the Turk's Cap, one of my favorite flowers!!
How is this for raindrops, Dick??

While in Mississippi we really enjoyed our time on Beulah Lake. In fact thanks to Russell we were able to rent a RV lot for a year near him. We will stop there from time to time during our travels and adventures.

There are beautiful sunsets @

Russell's Getaway!!

The shore view from our lot!!

From the top of the levee I took a shot of the lot and the lake. The land across the lake is Arkansas. The lake used to be the Mississippi River. It is now on the other side of the island.

The lot from the lake with a view of the levee.

I discovered that hibiscus grows wild in Mississippi...

The shots above were taken on Russell's lake lot.

Evin and Russell at his Beulah Lake spot getaway!!

Russell on the right enjoying the music of his talented friend Wesley.

On Sunday, Russell invited us to go have lunch with his Aunt Alberta. She has lots of family, friends and neighbors over every Sunday for a feast of Southern cooking at its best...

 Aunt Alberta and Russell

We got to lunch late but one can see that the "pickings" were not slim!!!

Aunt Alberta just happened to have a hibiscus growing in her back yard!!

Down the road from Beulah Lake we learned of a Colonial revival style home built atop a ceremonial Indian mound in the Mississippi Delta in 1896 -

Mont Helena

As one can see, Evin and I took a lot of shots of this beautiful home from another era.

Then on to Texas...

Stay Tuned!!

  1. Sorry to hear that your Dad passed.

Love the closeup shots of the hibiscus - beautiful!!! Glad to hear you are back on the planet again :>).

When we were on the road Melissa had her Verizon phone as a "hot spot" we were never without WiFi - it was a great thing. It only cost about $20 per month with a limit on it of course but we never went over the limit.

  2. We were in places that we did not cell service. We have a Verizon "Jetpack". It is what I am using now.

  3. So sorry to hear about your father.

Really interesting pictures. I loved the house on the mound. Dianne and I think that we gained weight just looking at that delicious-looking home cooked meal.

  4. Thank you.

We really like Mont Helena. Plan to go back and tour the inside. We just got a call from one of the ladies that help look after the property and they may use one of the photos Evin took on their website!!! I think it is the one with the big oak on the left side of the photo.
